Prince Charles appreciates organic farming in India

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla travelled to India at the beginning of September for a fact-finding tour on the use of solar energy and progress in organic farming. The Organic Farming Council of Punjab organized a programme of visits for the heir to the throne and his wife, during which they visited and exchanged views with progressive farmers in the state.
Beaming with pride after meeting Prince Charles, Rajinderpal Singh, an innovative organic farmer, said he had switched over to production of costly rose oil from the organic rose cultivation he began in 2003. He also grows organic wheat, paddy and pulses that despite being costly have a ready market among those who are against consuming chemically grown crops.
